We’ve left behind the long, sunbaked days of summer and are entering the magic of a vibrant autumn. Temperatures will drop, leaves will change, and we’ll trade our sandals for rain boots. One of my favorite things about fall is that it’s a great opportunity to explore my community and appreciate the local entertainment right outside my door. Summertime often keeps me busy with vacation plans, and winter can prove to be a bustling, hectic time preparing for the holidays, so I appreciate the slower-paced, homey feeling that pervades during these wonderful in-between months.
One of my favorite ways to support the community I love is to visit Bainbridge Island’s Moonlight Market. Located in Town Square, this market brings together small businesses, artists, vendors, craft food, and live music. So, grab your scarf, invite your loved ones, and enjoy a lively Island evening—you don’t want to miss out as this will be the last event until next year. For the quintessential fall experience, make a visit to a local pumpkin patch like Suyematsu Farms to pick out a pumpkin perfect for carving and admire beautiful sunflowers. If you’re in the mood for spooky with a side of silly, check out the play The Poe Show, a comedy inspired by the works of Edgar Allen Poe, running at Western Washington Center for Arts from mid-October to Halloween day.
Whether you’re already planning a full calendar of festivities or are simply looking forward to a pumpkin spice latte and a good book on a rainy day, I wish you a cozy autumn full of fun and cheer!
